Ka Chuan misguided, misinformed and blind to the needs of Chinese Education

on 27january i spoke at a dinner held at Kepayanf area and among others i said

Bercham urgently needs a new Chinese school and not an "upgrading" as claimed by Ong Ka Chuan. He says "upgrading" is ongoing when everyone knows that the current school is heavily overcrowded with 50 to 60 students cramped in a classroom.

The MCA has been unable to accept my challenge to get the necessary approval for the DAP and me to build the new Chinese school. "Upgrading" is an admission by the MCA that it has failed to get government approval despite being a major partner in the government as it always claims. If the opposition did not raise the issue the MCA will be sleeping and Chinese schools would suffer. It is because of our constant demand that the government is forced to approve "upgrading" of Chinese schools. The situation now demands for dozens of new Chinese schools all over the country. Just "upgrading" will not work and is not a solution. Every Chinese education experts will agree with that. The failure of the MCA to meet the urgent needs of the Chinese school system is a reflection of its poor status and power in the BN.

The teachers, headmasters and Chinese school experts have all said Bercham needs a new Chinese school but the MCA secretary-general Datuk Ong Ka Chuan does not agree. "The school facilities needed upgrading rather than an entire new school" he said in

The Star newspaper on Jan 26, 2008. He is blind to the urgent needs of the Chinese community. The Bercham school is overcrowded and sad to see so many young people struggling to get a decent education while the MCA which claims to be a major partner in BN, sleeps through it all.
